Sisters Spouses on the hook in bigamy investigation

Nigerian music superstar Fela Kuti let desire usurp logic when he married 27 women 40 years ago. Even when he later switched to a rotation of 12 wives at a time, the need for money was too good. Yes, being a mega-polygamist is exceedingly difficult. In America, such a practice is also outside the bounds of the law, as paternoster Brown of the brand new TLC program “Sister Wives” has discovered. Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn are under investigation for bigamy by Utah authorities, reports CBS News Crimewatch.

'Sister Wives’ are on the bigamy band -wagon

According to reports, TLC consulted with the Utah Attorney General’s office before producing “Sister Wives”. The network wanted to be sure the program wouldn’t run afoul of the law. Attorney general spokesman Scott Troxel informed the Browns that while bigamy is a third-degree felony in Utah, it is rarely investigated due to manpower issues and the need for money within state police force. Police manpower and their need for cash now makes investigation an iffy process, unless child abuse or trafficking are involved. However, the publicity “Sister Wives” has generated prompted investigation, writes Radar Online.

Despite the damaging press, Kody Brown and his 4 spouses see no problem with bigamy.

Janelle Brown, 40, mother of six of Kody Brown’s 13 children, put it this way: ” If we raise productive, contributing members of society who are moral and ethical, that’s our final goal, whichever their path is”. You will find also three stepchildren in the family.

Did you see ‘Sister Wives’ on 9/27 ?

Dubbed a “docu-series,” “Sister Wives” premiered Monday with an hour-long special. In the first episode, Kody Brown announced plans to take on an additional wife, Robyn, and her three children, says People. Six more episodes are currently set to air, unless Utah law enforcement has something to say over it.

”Right now, it’s not in our hands, but we’re not closing the door,” said Troxel regarding the questionable series “Sister Wives”.
