Campbell's Soup: Now in terrorist-accredited halal tastes

To practitioners of Islam, halal (the Arabic term for “lawful”) is essential. Halal works for Muslims in ways comparable to that of kosher for Jews. And halal is catching on, accounts The Stir. Campbell’s Soup has decided to produce halal-approved varieties marked by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Campbell’s goods in Canada will be the first to bear the ISNA insignia.

Warhol must be ’spinning in his grave’ after the Campbell’s soup halal

There is no small amount of controversy surrounding the move toward Campbell Soup halal-certified products. According to The Stir, the ISNA has accepted ties to the fundamentalist group Hamas, which is classified as a terrorist group by numerous countries, including the United States. Furthermore, multiple sources indicate the ISNA is financed by the Sunni Wahhabi sect. Wikipedia states that the group, which had been founded by the 18th century scholar Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab, advocates “purging Islam of impurities.” Muslims ought to “always oppose infidels in every way” and “hate them for their religion… for Allah’s sake.” That is what a recent Wahhabi publication found by the NGO Freedom House study, suggested. The American legendary Campbell’s Soup can painting had been done by Andy Warhol. This is why The Stir thinks he could be spinning in his grave now.

Campbell’s Soup sees a boycott on Facebook

It is not unusual to see kosher foods in American markets. Typically nobody cares about it that much. However, what are perceived by some as all-too-apparent links to terrorism have germinated numerous grassroots movements, like the Facebook crowd “Boycott Campbell Soup.”. Campbell said that “a Halal mark doesn’t change what is inside the can — it means only that the ingredients used to make the soup have been reviewed by the largest non-profit, religious, educational, and non-political Islamic group in North America.” This apparently just made groups like Boycott Campbell Soup madder about what’s going on. Campbell Canada states it is a “commitment to diversity and extraordinary, authentic nourishment for all.” This can make others who are free madder.

Campbell’s Consumer Response Center, which can be reached at 800-410-7687, is ready to take calls.
