National Security Advisor James Jones resigns

The retirement of National Security Advisor James Jones had been just announced. Jones’ deputy Tom Donilon will replace him. The White House has high turnover. Officials in top slots have been leaving in droves. The open election for Mayor of Chicago enticed Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to leave. Other rumors are beginning to persist. As outlined by the grapevine, Obama plans to replace Vice President Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton.

James Jones decides to retire

James Jones is going to be retiring fairly soon. The plan had been shown by the Los Angeles Times. He plans to serve until October is over. Tom Donilon was exchanged by Jones. He is the Deputy National Security Advisor. Donilon is not lacking in experience. That is for sure. He kept the position of chief of staff under Warren Christopher. Christopher worked under President Clinton as Secretary of State. Obama is the third president he has worked for. General James Jones intended to only serve for two years, as he has already had a long career. Jones had been formerly the Marine Corps Commandant and commander of NATO. In fact, Jones didn’t want the position. He didn’t want to be National Security Advisor. He had been the chief architect of the Afghan surge strategy as well. It is currently being used.

Officials do not want the job

CNN reports that officials keep leaving the Obama administration. Rahm Emanuel hopes to replace Mayor Daley who is retiring as Mayor of Chicago. Other senior staff, like adviser David Axelrod and economic adviser Larry Summers have left as well. A rumor of one more is going around. Joe Biden may step down. The White House says it won’t be happening, but rumor has it that Obama plans to replace him with Hillary Clinton before the 2012 election.

Musical chairs within the White House

The White House is having an exodus of top staff. Whether it is simply a coincidence remains to be seen. Big staff changes have happened before. It’s not that abnormal.
