Broward County, FL educational facilities locked down

In Florida state, Broward County has locked down its educational facilities. The danger of a class shooting led to the lock down. Broward County locked down many of the schools in one local area. The class district is really large, with over 250,000 pupils. The e-mailed threat also mentioned Broward County govt buildings, possibly post offices or libraries.

Florida schools in Broward county face a lockdown

The Florida school lockdown first started within the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Pembroke Pines. 260,000 students were incorporated in the lockdown with all 17 schools. The schools are "operating as normal as possible." This is what Nadine Drew, the school spokesman, said. In general, lockdowns mean that nobody can move in or out of school buildings, and generally into or out of classrooms. The plan is for the lockdown to stay until it is safe. Police have to clear the buildings.

Threatening Florida's Broward County

The schools were shut down after a woman called a radio station saying that her husband was “going to a school to start shooting.”. Also, the station got an email saying "something big had been going to happen" around government buildings which had been forwarded to Broward authorities. Police said that the identities of the man and his wife are not yet confirmed. The threat isn't severe anymore. It has not been considered so anyway.

School lockdown facts

"Locking down" a school is quite new. Numerous have no idea what it is. Both U.S. and Canadian schools have "lockdown drills" now. Most commonly, a lockdown confines teachers and students to their classrooms. The theory is that this will restrict movements and keep every person within the school more safe. Within the last few years, the 300 schools in the Broward County school district are having lockdown drills.
