Chrysler Motors fires 13 workers in following of scandal

A whistleblower news report involved Chrysler in a scandal over the actions of plant workers. Numerous Chrysler plant employees were captured drinking and using illegal drugs during their lunch break close to the plant. The news was broken by a news station in Detroit that was tipped off. Chrysler Motors quickly jumped on the story, and resolved to bring a summary about swiftly. Chrysler acted quickly. Not long right after the report aired, the individuals in question were all put on suspension. Days later, it is apparently resolved. Chrysler dismissed 13, and 2 more remain on suspension.

Not exactly Occupational Safety and Health Administration accepted

A tip about workers from the Jefferson North plant was passed to WJBK, or Fox 2, a Fox affiliate in Detroit according to USA Today. The plant in question assembles the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Workers were seen going to a local recreation area to smoke what appeared to be weed and drink beer on their break. The ritual went on for 5 consecutive days, until an anchor asked them what the heck they were doing. The party broke up. The news crew followed them back to the plant. The sting comes at a pretty inconvenient time. President Obama not too long ago concluded a visit to the exact same plant.

13 canned in this case>

Initially, Chrysler couldn’t fire any person. Nevertheless, 15 individuals were right away placed on suspension. The rules of the United Auto Workers require workers be suspended and investigated before they could be discharged. There were 13 individuals terminated, and two more placed on suspension, according to Automotive News. Quality control and build inspection is done by automation, so the quality of the automobiles isn’t affected according to Chrysler. The UAW insists that those which were let go are not indicative in any way of the quality of the bulk of their members.

Do not consume on the job

The “Three Martini Lunch” went the way of the Dodo. Working with industrial equipment calls for safety be paramount. Drinking and taking other illegal intoxicants is certainly contrary to safe practices.
