2011 Toyota Sienna recalled because of brake light problem

2011 Toyota Sienna recall pulls in 94,000

A new Toyota recall has surfaced, and this time it involves yet another new model. The embattled automaker has reported that there will be a recall of 94,000 2011 Toyota Sienna vehicles because of an issue involving the brake light switch bracket. All of the cars included in this Sienna recall were produced before Nov of this year. Toyota has had enough product recalls to require them to take out a huge payday loan to fix the troubles.

Sienna recall reviewed by Toyota

Because of the position of the brake light switch bracket to the parking brake pedal, the Sienna recall had to take place, states Toyota. The parking brake can come into contact with the brake light switch physically when fully deployed. This can cause the switch to malfunction possibly with bending. Specifically, the brake lights can remain on even if the brakes are not being deployed, and if the damage is significant sufficient, Toyota indicates that the brakes could really become partially engaged because of the warped bracket. Then brake drag can occur, which can eventually impair overall braking performance.

The brake light switch bracket issue has not brought on any accidents that Toyota is aware of yet. It’s possible that at any time, the problem could possibly be an issue with impaired breaking.

2011 Toyota Sienna owners can be contacted via mail

Any Toyota Sienna drivers will get first class postal mail sent to them as notification. The middle of Jan, 2011, is when Toyota plans to start sending this mail. The letter will explain what Sienna drivers should do. It will consist of instructions. The info can be found other places too. Toyota's website's recall section has it.

Sienna owners can be contacted for a second time with information on how to replace the brake light switching bracket by late February. Also, Sienna users could be expected to go to the nearest Toyota dealer for an installation appointment. Owners will not be charged for the service done to their automobile. Thinking about the parking brake position, a new switching bracket could be installed.
