Pontiac has formally ceased to occur

After being put on the chopping block last year, Pontiac no longer officially exists. The brand had been jettisoned along with other under-performing brands under the GM banner. It was not alone. Other brands, such as Hummer, Saturn, and Opel were divested also. Pontiac had previously been one of GM’s best performing brands. The organization had over three quarters of a century of operation. Pontiac, once the near symbol of Detroit automotive muscle, had been heralded for its severe performance at seriously good prices. Source for this article – Pontiac has officially ceased to exist by Car Deal Expert.

No more Pontiac

General Motors jettisoned the brands that weren’t performing well during its bankruptcy, including Pontiac. The brand had been suffering as of 2008, and GM decided to allow Pontiac to pass away. As of Sunday, Pontiac no longer exists as a corporate entity, according to USA Today. Brand enthusiasts long lamented what they considered to be a severe mishandling of the brand by General Motors, which was thought to simply field Chevrolet and Buick models in Pontiac trim. There were a lot of Pontiac muscle cars from the 1950s to the 1980s. Pontiac had been known for this horsepower.

Looking into history

In 1926, Pontiac had been made for families in the working class. By the 1950s, sales were struggling and General Motors decided it had been time to rethink the brand. Pontiac cars became racing and performance driven creatures, and by 1965, GM had introduced the Pontiac GTO, one of one of the most legendary cars of all time, and also the near epitome of Detroit muscle cars. The GTO, or “Gran Turismo Omolagato,” had been inspired by Italian sport tour cars. John DeLorean got a small team together which put a 389-cubic-inch engine under the hood with a Tempest frame. Sales shot via the roof, accounting for 17 percent of GM sales in 1968. The Pontiac Trans Am of the Firebird line was one more huge success. Sadly, by the 1980s, the car had moved away from the horsepower it had been known for.

Then it went down

From the 1980s into the 2000s, Pontiac was no longer sold as a performance brand, and sales reflected it. In 2008, there weren't numerous selling yearly. In fact, it was selling less than 275,000. The legend of Pontiac can be leaving us now which can be a really sad thing.

Obama India journey - Is $200 million each day really necessary?

Obama is taking a working journey to India and nearby nations. The Obama India trip is mostly for relationship building, and while no huge changes within the partnership are expected, it has been highly envisioned. Some, though, are questioning whether this trip is really worth the reported $200 million a day cost.

Over-reported cost of India journey for Obama

An Indian news outlet reported what the Obama India trip cost. About $200 million a day had been the estimate. The $200 million per day estimate is probably a little too high although the White House will not say what the expense of the trip had been. White House spokesman Tommy Vietor addressed this India trip cost rumor:

“Due to security concerns, we are unable to outline information associated with security procedures and costs, but it’s safe to say these numbers are wildly inflated.”

India someplace Obama went for relationship building

The four day journey to India had been made by Obama for a reason. This was so the two nations could have stronger relationships developed. A civic nuclear agreement is there between the two nations while about $40 billion a year is traded with the country from the United States of America. The Obama trip to India was talked about by India's foreign minister, Nirupamo Rao. He said, “We aren’t at a stage in our partnership perhaps for one more big bang, however certainly there can be positive outcomes.”

Why it costs a lot for the president to vacation

The trip Obama made to India definitely cost cash. Various million per day had to be paid for it. Whenever presidents travel, they take along a large portion of the White House with them. This isn’t only to ensure that they continue working while from the office but to address any major issues that come up throughout the trip. Media has to pay themselves for trips like this, sometimes with a no no fax cash advance, when the president has much of the costs going towards security. Working class individuals will not have to pay any more or less than usual for the Obama India journey.

Foreclosure crisis increases decline of U.S. home ownership

U.S. home ownership levels have declined to the lowest level in more than a decade. The decline is gaining momentum. Severe unemployment, a wave of foreclosures and plummeting home prices are taking their toll. Foreclosures have mounted by the millions in recent years and millions more will go down before the crisis is over. Article source – U.S. home ownership rates falling as foreclosure crisis deepens by Personal Money Store.

There are not as many owning their homes

Home ownership in the U.S. has declined continuously over the last five years based on a record from the United States of America Census Bureau. U.S. home ownership has dropped by 3 million households since 2005. 66.9 percent owned homes in the third quarter of this year. Since 1999, the rate hasn't been that bad. The home ownership rate peaked in the first quarter of 2005 at 69.1 percent. Right now, there’s a bunch of economic uncertainty. This has made it harder for younger homeowners. There had been a 9 percent decrease since 2005 in those who owned their homes and were under 35. In the 3rd quarter of 2010, it was at 39.2 percent.

The housing sector

As homeownership falls, the housing market follows. U.S. existing home sales in September dropped 19 percent from the year before. The current annual rate of 307,000 existing home sales is a historic low. The lack of sales continues to drive down home prices. Based on the census Bureau, many homes are vacant right now. 18.8 million homes are this way at present. Housing starts in 2010 are at about a 600,000 a year annual rate, far below what is considered normal. A real estate analyst told Cable News Network that fewer people are forming new households or renting. You will find more roommates for younger individuals while families will double up.

The foreclosure crisis together with home ownership

There should be a ton of foreclosures this year. In fact the amount is expected to a million. If unemployment stays this high, there can be more homes foreclosed on. In 2011, the rate could be even higher. Morgan Stanley came out with a record on this. It said that about 3.1 million mortgage holders will probably be foreclosed on as they’re seriously delinquent. An additional 4 million homeowners are falling behind, and half of those are expected to go into foreclosure. Any time could lead to homes being foreclosed. 11 million are currently expected to foreclose.

Pancreatic cancer research focuses on earlier recognition

November is pancreatic cancer awareness month. Other cancers are more prevalent. However, once diagnosed, pancreatic cancer is usually fatal. Until just lately, pancreatic cancer was thought to spread rapidly, however recent findings about the disease that was made prominent by Patick Swayze’s death last year hint that its likelihood of occurring is manifested years in advance, which increases the possibility of accurate early diagnosis and successful treatment. Resource for this article – Pancreatic cancer awareness month marks gains in early detection by Personal Money Store.

Looking back at Cancer of the breast Awareness Month

According to American Cancer Society estimates, in 2009 there were 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 62,280 early-stage breast cancer diagnosed in women. In those cases, many were said to end in death. 40,000 of them were given this verdict. Breast cancer had been also estimated to be diagnosed in almost 2,000 men this past year. Of those, about 440 were forecasted to die.

Breast cancer false statements

  • Underwire bras are bad. They make breast cancer more likely

The false belief here is that by constricting breast tissue, underwire bras cause cancer-causing toxins to build up. This is not true based on Dr. Deborah Axelrod. This is what she told CBS.

  • Breast Cancer comes from deodorant

Dr. Schnabel says this is false. Toxins between deodorant and breast cancer isn't proven in studies.

  • Drink from plastic water bottles and get breast cancer

A link between plastic bottles and cancers is something many experts believe is there. Others doubt it just as much though. BPA (bisphenol) is an additional substance of concern in plastic, but even that has not been definitively connected to cancer of the breast.

  • Avoid mammograms. They trigger breast cancer

Columbia Broadcasting System News heard Dr. Schnabel say that naturally, over three months, a woman's breast gets more radiation exposed to it than the .1 to .2 rads per picture a mammogram puts out.

  • Lumpy breasts are bad. They create a greater risk

Lumpy breasts don't mean you'll get cancer, although it can make it harder to detect it. However, Dr. Axelrod advises that it’s best to treat newly discovered breast lumps with caution and have a doctor investigate.

  • No family history, no breast cancer

While breast cancer can run in the family, studies indicate that 80 percent are sporadic cases.

Lil Wayne's airline from Rikers will be a tracking studio room

Lil Wayne would have dropped tracks from his jail cell if Rikers Island allowed such a thing. Rolling Stone writes that Lil Wayne won’t even be waiting until he deplanes from his private jet out of Rikers Island. No, he’ll be recording on his specially equipped music studio jet, because the rhymes won’t wait.

Lil Wayne plans to document his incarceration

Bryan "Birdman" Williams, co-founder of Lil Wayne’s Cash Money recording label, told Rolling Stone "We’re gonna deal with that microphone, no trip. You can’t keep (Lil Wayne) out of the studio."

You also can’t keep Lil Wayne from writing lyrics, as evidenced by eight months worth of "furious" work done in his Rikers Island cell. The Rolling Stone reports that now Wayne is rhyming again too. "Birdman" said that since Hot Boys he hadn't been rhyming. This is the second time that Lil Wayne was found, in October, with "music related contraband" within the MC in a fire. That is why he's being confined. Predictions are the resulting material can have an even sharper edge.

'A different swagger’ is what he's called

Listening to Lil Wayne's music will be like hearing "a different swagger." This is what Williams explains. You can get ahold of the next LP released by Lil Wayne in early 2011. "Tha Carter IV" is what it is titled. 2 weeks ago, Lil Wayne's album "I Am Not a Human Being" was on the top of all music. Rolling Stone accounts that Cortez Bryant, Lil Wayne's manager, said that he is headed someplace really creative due to his human experience he has had that was very human.
